American Music Trail Worth Noting

In their Friday 8/21 edition, USA Today ran a great story titled This Trip Hits the High Notes: Follow Music’s Southern Routes featuring “the American Music Trail” which originates in Nashville and follows an easy drive right down to Tuscumbia, AL. Starting in Nashville, the story features Tootsie’s World-Famous Orchid Lounge and “Honky-Tonk Row,” includes a descriptions of The Country Music Hall of Fame, RCA Studio B, the Grand Ole Opry, and mentions The Loveless Cafe as a “a required stop.” The story then takes you along the trail, through the roots of southern gospel in Lawrenceburg, TN and lands you in Florence, AL with the WC Handy Home, Museum & Library and Festival, the Alabama Music Hall of Fame and the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio. There is so much to see and absorb along that route – a must trip for anyone with any musical inclinations from singing in the shower to wanting to become a world-renowned performer! Young Marines Ride Anchor to DC

This summer, 20 Young Marines, along with 8 adults traveled to Washington, DC aboard an Anchor Trailways motorcoach. The group pays for the trip through donations and fundraisers throughout the year and had planned to travel by vans, as they have in past years, to save money. Through a donation from a generous supporter and parent, the group was able to charter an Anchor Trailways & Tours motorcoach and travel together in comfort. Many groups make the choice to travel in vans and don’t realize how you risk the safety of the group as a result of the drivers trying to keep track of each other and being distracted by the activities in the vehicle. When groups travel on an Anchor Trailways coach the driver focuses on only one thing – getting the group to/from their destination safely. As a Department of Defense certified transportation company which qualifies us to work with the military, it was only fitting that the Young Marines travel with us also! The group’s ambitious schedule included a visit with the Marine Corps Drum & Bugle Corps, a tour of Quantico, a visit to the National Museum of the Marine Corps, the Washington Monument, the Korean Memorial, Mount Vernon, a tour of the Capital with Marsha Blackburn, a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, the Iwo Jima Monument and a visit with Tennessee Marines stationed in DC. The Young Marines is not a recruiting tool for the military, rather it is an organization for young adults that promotes the mental, moral and physical development of its members. An adult associated with the group wrote us: “Thank you so much for your generous donation of a bus and driver for the Young Marines to go to our Nation’s capitol. My nephew loved the trip and especially loved Mr. Tom the busdriver. Anchor Trailways Receives #1 DOD Rating

We have once again qualified for our #1 DOD rating – the highest rating possible which qualifies us to transport our troops and we are so honored to be able to do so. Not all motorcoach companies can undergo the scrutiny of this qualification and you should always ask a company what their DOD rating is before deciding to work with them. The ratings run from 1 (satisfactory) to 5 (unsatisfactory) and if a company is not rated at all it means they either do not qualify or do not want to submit themselves to this rigorous assessment.

Riders Write In From Tuscumbia

As you know, we have an office in Muscle Shoals, AL and we recently drove a trip for the Muscle Shoals Chamber. Two people on that trip have written in and we want to share their comments with you … Bob Nicholas of the Chamber writes us “First Class! That is how we consider our trip to Redstone. Much of it had to do with the bus and driver you furnished. Earl did a great job…” and Teresa Rogers, an Allstate agent who also went on the trip said, “Speaking as one of the 25+ folks from the Shoals that toured Redstone on Wednesday I want to thank you for the use of the wonderful bus and driver … It made our trip so comfortable in the 97 degree temps. Thanks for being a fellow Chamber member.” Our thanks to these two people for letting us know how their trip went and to Earl, our driver, who took such good care of them.

Songwriters Sing for Nashville Tomorrow 7/17

Songwriters fm the Songwriters Hall of Fame will be performing indoors and out tomorrow at different locations at Fontanel Mansion to benefit Flood Relief. Early performances begin at the Farm House Restaurant right there on the property. The concert at The Woods at Fontanel – the gorgeous outdoor venue – begins at 4:30 pm. Food will be available for purchase and you can always arrive early and walk the beautiful trails that outline the property. All proceeds from tours of the mansion and ticket sales for the event benefit flood relief for Nashville area residents still struggling to recover from May’s devastating floods. We were pleased to donate $10,000 to start the fund and make it possible for residents who are in need of assistance to get money immediately. CMT and Buffet Support the Alabama Shore

CMT Presents Jimmy Buffett & Friends Live From the Gulf Coast, a 90-minute live concert special, will air tomorrow July 11 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CMT. The event, originally planned for July 1 on the beach in Gulf Shores, AL, was rescheduled for July 11 because of concerns about surf conditions resulting from area storms. The event will air live and commercial-free on CMT and will be streamed on CMT.com. The performances will be simulcast live on Radio Margaritaville, available on Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio. This event is intended to bring happy news and a positive focus and financial impact to the residents and businesses of the shores of Alabama.We should all support this great event! For you Parrotheads, a new Margaritaville Cafe restaurant is under construction right here in Music City in downtown Nashville with a planned opening this fall.

Hosting the US Youth Soccer Tournament

The US Youth Soccer National President’s Cup tournament is being held this weekend in Murfreesboro, TN. This tournament is the competitive culmination for US Youth Soccer teams who have advanced from the state to regional to National Presidents Cup level, and will be held July 8-11, at Richard Siegel Soccer Complex. We welcome these talented athletes and their families to middle Tennessee and hope that you have a wonderful visit!

Nashville Offers Magical Venues!

Check this out, this past Saturday this wedding was being set up at the War Memorial in downtown Nashville. The ceremony was outside, drinks on the veranda up top and the reception inside. The inside of the War Memorial was transformed into a magical place with gorgeous flowers, draping, linens, china and lighting. It was a very lucky bride’s dream come true.
