Early performances begin at the Farm House Restaurant right there on the property. The concert at The Woods at Fontanel – the gorgeous outdoor venue – begins at 4:30 pm. Food will be available for purchase and you can always arrive early and walk the beautiful trails that outline the property. All proceeds from tours of the mansion and ticket sales for the event benefit flood relief for Nashville area residents still struggling to recover from May’s devastating floods. We were pleased to donate $10,000 to start the fund and make it possible for residents who are in need of assistance to get money immediately. Anyone needing assistance can go to any First Tennessean Bank for details.

Under the heading of you just never know who will be in Nashville next, The Little People of America (LPA) conference was here in our city last week bringing 2,200 visitors. A daily itinerary included tours of local attractions, medical clinics to discuss dwarf-specific health issues, nightly dinners and dances, a talent show, athletic competitions, and even a round of speed dating. A massive expo also included hundreds of products to help make daily living easier for the short-statured. Our city accommodated the variety of activities without effort. The LPA, a national nonprofit organization that’s been around since 1957, includes all 200-plus forms of dwarfism, typically caused by a variety of medical conditions. The locations of these meeting are voted on by their members and we are very honored to have been chosen as the location for this year’s event.

A series of free Saturday afternoon concerts starts this weekend (7/10) in Centennial Park. The Musicians Corner will offer live music from 3-6 PM on a stage at the southwest corner of the park (near West End and 27th Ave. N., and McDonald’s). The series will continue through October 16, offering a mix of local and national talent, and surprise guests. Lifestyle, food, and artisan vendors will be on hand. Musicians Corner aspires to be a central point, free and open to all, where Music City will gather to perform and enjoy its music. Inspired by London’s “Speakers Corner,” the series offers free outdoor summer music offerings. With the Nashville Farmers Market and now The Musicians Corner among all the other many wonderful offerings in Nashville, there is always something to do here, as a group or individually.
